Palace Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday Milestone & Shares Secrets to Longevity
The Palace Renaissance recently celebrated the extraordinary 100th birthday of resident Katherine “Kitty” Maritato. Born on July 22, 1923, in the heart of Coney Island, Maritato’s life is an inspiring journey spanning 10 decades—from the founding of the Walt Disney Company to the rise of artificial intelligence.
Throughout her life, Maritato has been an embodiment of vitality and enthusiasm. One of her great passions was running a successful produce store in Canarsie, New York, alongside her late husband, Gennaro. Together, they built a legacy and served the local community for decades.
A true lover of nature, she spent countless hours at the beach, collecting seashells that she used to create beautiful mirrors, a skill she mastered over the years. She credits her special relationship with the ocean as a key
to longevity. Maritato firmly believes in the therapeutic power of the sea, advising everyone to visit the ocean once a week and take a bath in it.
She said the sea is the best therapy, a place to leave all your problems and worries behind.
“You don’t know what life is going to be like, so just enjoy it and take it one day at a time,” she added.
The newest member of the community’s “Centenarian Club” was surrounded by wonderful family and friends on her special day, which included an Italian feast and live entertainment.
