High-end senior living company Palace Group could build a nursing home and rehabilitation center in Homestead.
The city’s Development Review Committee will consider plans for the 5.06-acre vacant site directly south of the Palace Gardens assisted living facility at 3100 Campbell Drive on Aug. 12. Adam Rosenblum, VP of marketing and sales at Palace Group, said the new building would be a replacement for its Homestead Manor nursing home at 1330 N.W. 1st Ave. It will most likely sell that property when the new nursing home is completed, he added.

A South Florida veteran who served on the front lines in World War II celebrated his 100th birthday. Mandell Mitchell may not look it, but he’s reached the triple digit milestone surrounded by his family. 7News got to take part in celebrating the special day at The Palace at Weston assisted living facility on Friday Mitchell enlisted in the military at 18, serving as an infantry trooper on the front lines in Europe in 1944.

Born in Brooklyn, Dr. Harold Silberman discovered his passion for movement as the captain of his high school swim team. "Swimming taught me discipline," he says. "It's about consistency and pushing yourself to improve every day." That mindset carried into adulthood with tennis victories in singles and doubles tournaments, as well as water skiing with his family. "I was an avid water skier, and all my kids became accomplished water skiers," Silberman shares. "My youngest son even became a barefoot skier!"
