Improbable actors are discovering newfound talents at The Palace at Coral Gables’ Improv workshop. Offered once a week at the senior living community, Improv is taught by Chris Heiberger from Hashtag Comedy Co. in Columbus, Ohio, via the Zoom platform. About 8 to 10 residents have been participating in the hour-long classes.

Residents at The Palace at Weston, 16025 Emerald Estates Drive, have been using art to help children in hospitals.The Senior Living Community has recently partnered with the charitable group, Dec My Room, to assist in personalizing hospital rooms for children who are admitted for an extended period of time. From paintings to blankets, the residents have been putting together crafts, hoping to uplift a child in a hospital.

A red carpet welcome set the scene for the first Volunteer Awards Ceremony at The Palace Suites in Kendall where seven residents were recognized for their community service.

Officiated by The Suites General Manager Gabriel Garrido, Palace owners Helen and Jacob Shaham helped present award plaques and bouquets of long- stem roses to the honored recipients.

Julio Lopez, the Maintenance Director at The Palace at Coral Gables, has been named the 2021 Manager of the Year in a competition among recipients of the Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award.The Palace Group has received the Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award for four consecutive years. Gallup recognizes the most engaged workplaces in the world, and to have its managers considered, a company must be a recipient of the award. This year, Lopez competed against 11 finalists and was selected by a team of workplace experts and talent analysts.

The fanfare of the Westminster Dog Show came to The Palace Gardens! Therapy dogs from Heel 2 Heel Pet Therapy Inc. and their owners strutted down the runway during the dog show, much to the delight of residents at the assisted living and memory care community in Homestead. The event was featured on NBC 6!

In honor of Yom HaShoah, The Palace Coral Gables will premiere a documentary, “I am Victor Raab,” as part of a Survivor Ceremony and Program on April 8. In the poignant film, WWII survivor Raab shares the events of Kristallnacht, a violent riot against Jews carried out by the Nazi party. He was 15 years old living in Vienna, Austria, and to save his life, his parents put him on the “Kindertransport list,” the program that sent Austrian children to foster homes in London.
