It’s not every day someone turns 100! When it’s done with exuberance & grace, it’s even more special. Palace at Coral Gables resident Elena De Volloldo celebrated the Big 100 and the Palace Entertainment Team went “all out” to make her day extraordinary. The day began with Mojitos, served to a Salsa beat by our Entertainment Team dressed in their Salsa best. Elena and her friends boarded a decorated Cuban-themed bus for a surprise tour. Our party girl dreams of her birthplace in Havana in 1923 and longs for a taste of Old Havana, so we whisked her and her friends on a tour of Calle Ocho with stops at Domino Park and the Cuban Memorial. Then, on to the world’s most famous Cuban restaurant, Versailles, where the management and staff serenaded her with their version of Happy Birthday and all enjoyed a round of Coladas. As curious patrons watched the festivities, our celebrants enjoyed an impromptu Salsa Dance Party in the parking lot before heading on to a fabulous luncheon given by Elena’s loving children. Happy Birthday Elena!

Join us and watch a few highlights from The Palace Coral Gables’ 10th year anniversary celebration, “Walk the Mile.” Residents, families and friends joined our beloved founders, Helen & Jacob Shaham, along with Mayor of Coral Gables Vince Lago and Vice Mayor Rhonda Anderson for the festivities.

The Palace Coral Gables is turning 10, and the active retirement community is inviting the whole city to its Walk the Mile celebration. During this month-long event, local stores, restaurants, service providers, and entertainment and cultural venues will display photographic banners featuring patrons who are Palace residents.

The Palace Renaissance recently celebrated the extraordinary 100th birthday of resident Katherine “Kitty” Maritato. Born on July 22, 1923, in the heart of Coney Island, Maritato’s life is an inspiring journey spanning 10 decades—from the founding of the Walt Disney Company to the rise of artificial intelligence.

When 83-year-old Barbara Fox contemplated retirement, she didn’t envision moving to a Senior Living Community and enjoying carefree days of canasta or pickleball. She just wanted to escape the demands of managing her large Miami home as a single divorcee.

The Palace Royale created a once in a lifetime experience for a special grandmother hosting the wedding ceremony of her granddaughter, Carolyn Gloria Bosqui to Austin Choi. Palace resident Gloria Goyri wanted to experience the joy seeing her granddaughter tie the knot but due to health issues would not be ableto participate in the couple’s actual wedding later this month.
