Residents from The Palace at Weston assisted living community visited the school for Adopt-a-Grandparent day. “The Adopt-a-Grandparent Day (officially Sept.10) was started in 2014 to recognize and honor the lives of the elderly in our society.

Dear Helen,My name is Beth and I’m 81 years old. I’m happily married for over 50 years. My husband and I live in a very nice house in which we enjoy entertaining our friends and family. We’re both very active, we go to the gym every morning, we enjoy going out to restaurants with friends. And I still cook for my entire family on holidays. Overall, I would say, I am in top shape for my age.

Doing good inspires a group of dedicated knitters at The Palace at Coral Gables who participate in the Knitter’s Circle and channel their love of knitting into helping others.Two organizations are the recipients of their efforts. Operation Gratitude accepts their lovingly handmade scarves which are included in care packages sent to the troops. They also donate snuggly soft blankets to Neonatal Intensive Care Units through the organization ICU Baby.

The Palace at Weston hosted a couple of rather unusual guests last month. On Friday, April 8th, “King David” and “Harvey” stopped by the senior living community to pay a special visit to 84 year-old Matteo Pecoraro, a former horse trainer and lifelong lover of horses, who resides at The Palace at Weston Memory Care community.
